Extant originals

   

   The best costuming sources are extant garments and some of them you can see over here. Important to know is, that there is no statistically significant quantity to generalize "this type was made by that manner". It only can be declared: given dress was constructed by concrete method.

   Second suggestion is about condition of  preserved clothing. There is big difference between dress thrown out as inreparable and king's robe, which was part of state treasure. Also we should be careful in case of burial robes. Today we also don't bury in T-shirt and jeans but in suits.

   Specific topic are swamp finds, because there is question if it was robbery homicide or execution of "witch".
