Jane Seymour's Gable Hood
The dress
is laced under the stomacher by a finger looped silk braid with a
hand made brass point and there is left a gap, which is typical
for paintings of Jane Seymour. There is a gable hood on a head, a
more conservative headwear made of buckram and a wire covered by
wool, the outer layer is made of white silk satin, black silk
fabric and linen lining. Lappets are made of half-silk brocade
completed with embroidery of white silk and golden thread to looks
like the lappets at the portrait. One veil is lift up like at the
portrait. The front part of the hood is decorated with a real
pearls and gilded metal beads. There is a hairstyle made of
crossed braids under the hood, these braids are covered with a
separate stripe of striped silk. |
