Dress of Marie de Medici

Dress made according to the painting of the French Queen Marie de Medici called „The Consignment of the Regency „ (1622-1624, Peter Paul Rubens, Louvre). The gown bodice with large sleeves and the gown skirt are made of dark violet velvet following taskmaster’s explicit request although more period authentic would be sateen. The gown is completed by lace cuffs on the sleeves, lace ruff and lace scarf supported by wire rebato (supportasse) created in cooperation with Daniel Krizan.

Next pages show the dress in other possitions and individual dress layers.
Photo was taken by Ing. Premysl Polasek in Tovacov castle.
