Herjolfsnes no.38
Womens version of Herjolfsnes find no.41, late 14th century
Greenland. Although his garment is a bit better fitted, and the upper
body was shaped by darts, this dress was not tight, as it was 94 cm in
waist. A short woman, maximum 147 cm or more like 140 cm in height,
25-30 years of age was buried in it. The side gores were composed of 2
pieces of fabric, each having a false seam in the middle, to make
appearance of 4 pieces which looked almost identical. Pocket slits
were made approximately at the waist line.
